Sharing Kathmandu Curry with Tibetan Buddhist Monks

By Bridget Bray

Everyone has their personal or family favorites in the Harwin/Hillcroft area for a tasty meal. I’ve been eating there since I was a kid and have lots of opinions! Because we have such a wealth of delicious restaurants to choose from, and because they are so many that have received well-deserved attention, I wanted to highlight one that I enjoy and happily bring out of town guests to!

One of our favorite annual rituals when the group of Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery in India visit Asia Society Texas for their creation of the sand mandala and music performances is the group dinner we host for the monks as a thank you for their work with the Asia Society Texas staff. We had a great time at Kathmandu Curry on their last visit, and recommend you try it too.

The goat momos (dumplings) are top shelf and their thali is a great way to sample their menu.
